WIN’S ‘Fargo’ issue is now available

As wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics is about ready to start this weekend, take a closer look at USA’s best younger wrestlers who could compete in future Olympics as WIN’s “Fargo” edition is now available. In this issue, you will see the biggest stories that came out of the Junior/16U Nationals that celebrated a 50th year of competition in this annual event that was once against held in the Fargodome.

P8 - JUNIOR NATIONALS

Drake Ayala of Fort Dodge, Iowa, is a future Hawkeye who hopes to build off a freestyle and OW performance in college, while Greco OW Jeremy Bockert of Alaska is in search of more post-high school competition.

P12 - WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION UPDATE

The women’s team in Fargo had the most success — led by Junior champions Shelby Moore and London Houston — while Yusief Lillie finished second in men’s freestyle.

P13 - IKWF-ILLINOIS/USA WRESTLING UPDATE

The Junior freestyle squad won a fourth straight team championship while Kannon Webster, Nasir Bailey and Alexis Janiak all captured individual titles.

P20 - FARGO NOTEBOOK

Fitting of the annual event that was held for the 50th year saw Minnesota’s Elijah Paulson earn All-American honors with both his father, Brandon, and grandfather, Doug, coaching in his corner.

P22 - 16U NATIONALS

Mack Mauger of Idaho and Koy Hopke of Wisconsin took many different routes to Fargo where each wrestler won both freestyle and Greco titles and earned Triple Crowns for 2021.

P26 - WOMEN'S NATIONS

Sage Mortimer of Utah made a name in Fargo for herself by taking risks and she proved it again with a victory over future King University teammate Samara Chavez from Texas.

P33 - RMN EVENTS FEATURE

Perhaps no high school program made a bigger impact in Fargo than the Valiant Prep wrestlers from Phoenix, Ariz., where head coach Angel Cejudo is helping create a winning culture.

P34 - CADET WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Jess Medina (center in below photo) hoists the World team championship trophy after her Cadet team captured three gold medals and four bronzes in Budapest, where men’s freestyle captured two golds and two silvers.
