No other World Championship created more success for American wrestlers than the 2021 Worlds that took place the first week of October in Oslo, Norway. WIN Magazine was thrilled to capture many of these great stories in our latest issue of WIN (Vol. 28, No. 1) that was printed on Oct. 22.

NO RESTING ON PAST LAURELS  – 2021 World champions Jordan Burroughs, Adeline Gray and Helen Maroulis added to their legendary status by showing they could continue to add to their talents.

WASHINGTON NOTEBOOK  – Dominic Damon of Nathan Hale High School became the first wrestler from a Seattle public school to win a state championship and is now training full-time in Greco-Roman at Northern Michigan.

ILLINOIS NOTEBOOK  – The Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation is eager to start a full season of youth tournaments after the pandemic forced young wrestlers to miss a year of competition.

2021 WORLDS • MEN’S FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTS – Gold medalists Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Dake and Thomas Gilman were among seven medal winners in Oslo, Norway, where this group compiled a 32-8 record and finished second as a team.

2021 WORLDS • WOMEN’S FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTS  – Look back at all 33 matches that took place in Norway, where Adeline Gray and Helen Maroulis added to their World championship resume and led a group that finished 24-9 overall and with seven medals.

2021 WORLDS • GRECO-ROMAN HIGHLIGHTS – G’Angelo Hancock earned a bronze medal and Max Nowry and Ben Provisor each won matches at the World Championships as the U.S. compiled a 5-11 overall record.

GRECO ON THE RISE AGAIN? – U.S. Greco-Roman coach Coach Matt Lindland believes that G’Angelo Hancock’s bronze medal could show a path of future success for other young talented American wrestlers in this style.

2021 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS NOTEBOOK – In about 50 days, Kyle Dake and Thomas Gilman went from Olympic bronze medalists to World champions, while the U.S.’s 15-medal performance in Oslo was the best ever by Team USA at the Worlds.

MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS – Appalachian State coach JohnMark Bentley and 2021 All-American Jon Millner, one of seven NCAA qualifiers returning, have shown the Mountaineers are ready to take on the uphill battle against Division I opponents.

STANFORD FINDS NEW LIFE  – Rob Koll, who spent 28 years building a national powerhouse at Cornell, has moved to California, where he hopes to accomplish the same thing with the Cardinal program that was nearly cut a year ago.

RMN EVENTS FEATURE – Hawaii’s Mikah Labuanan loves to win, including the RMN Terminator championship, but it is also important for this 13-year-old to display sportsmanship with a simple handshake.
